Teklan Brings New Colours to the Entryway
The entry is the first encounter with your home’s colours, mood and personality. Now colour designer Tekla Evelina Severin, known as Teklan, has created three new colourways for Heymat’s Mix indoor doormats: Ember, Zest and Dusk. From warm terracotta tones to fresh greens and the cool hues of the blue hour, each sets a different mood from the very first step.
The Power of Colour
For Teklan, recolouring Mix is like playing the same piece of music in three different keys: the rhythm stays the same, but the feeling changes.
Colours also shift with light, materials and their surroundings. The same doormat can therefore take on a different character from one home to another.
Working with Kristine Five Melvær’s graphic Mix pattern, Teklan has created three new colourways: Ember, Zest and Dusk.
“Colour can completely change how you read a shape, an object or a space without actually changing the form.”

Three New Colourways, Three Distinct Expressions
The three new palettes each explore the balance between harmony and contrast in their own way. From warm and embracing to fresh and nostalgic, and on to the blue hour.
Mix Ember – Warmth on Warmth
Mix Ember – Warmth on Warmth
Burgundy, rust, terracotta and pink come together in a warm, embracing palette. In Mix Ember, Teklan explores how closely related colours can feel both soothing and vivid. Subtle shifts in tone add depth, while pink brings a playful touch.
The result is grounded yet lively. Let Ember echo the warm tones of wood and furnishings, or bring a sense of warmth to a neutral entryway.

Mix Zest – Fresh Colour with a Nostalgic Feel
Mix Zest – Fresh Colour with a Nostalgic Feel
Mix Zest builds on the palette of the original Mix Teklan. Gemstone inspiration and a nostalgic 70s feeling find fresh expression in olive and matcha greens, ochre, burgundy and pink.
The palette balances freshness with a warm, familiar feel, using contrasts to add depth and character. Pick up one of its colours in a lamp, a picture or another detail to bring your entryway together.

Mix Dusk – Cool Blue Hour, Warmth Underneath
Mix Dusk – Cool Blue Hour, Warmth Underneath
The blue hour is a moment of transition. As daylight fades, colours become deeper and harder to define. This shifting light is the starting point for Mix Dusk.
Cool blues meet deep burgundy and brown in a palette that feels calm yet rich in nuance. The warm tones provide a counterpoint to the blue blocks. Use Dusk to echo blue details in your entryway, or let its palette meet the warmth of wood.

Colour with Room for Contrast
When Teklan works with colour, she looks for a balance between harmony and tension. Something fresh and airy meets something deeper and more grounded. For her, a palette often becomes interesting when it holds these opposing qualities at the same time.
“I often use the expression ‘something flirty and something dirty’ — pairing something clear, airy or sweet with something deeper, dustier or more grounded.”
— Tekla Evelina Severin, Teklan

Set the Tone from the Very First Step
For Teklan, the entryway is the transition between the outside world and your own world. It offers the first glimpse of your home’s colours, mood and character – like the opening chapter of a story.
The doormat becomes part of that first encounter. An interior element that introduces colour and personality right at the door.
With Ember, Zest and Dusk, that story can begin in three different ways. Which one sets the tone for your home?

Indoor Doormats Made for Everyday Life
Mix Ember, Zest and Dusk combine colour and character with a practical role in the entryway. These indoor doormats trap dirt and absorb moisture from shoes, while a non-slip rubber backing helps keep them in place. They can be machine-washed – follow the care instructions for your mat.
