Heymat up for prize in New York

Our sustainable collection Heymat+ is nominated in the prestigious NYCxDesign Awards.

The event is part of the NYCxDesign festival, where industry people from across the world gather in New York to celebrate the very best of international design. The award ceremony takes place May 20th, and Heymat+ is nominated in the Residential Flooring category.

“We are extremely proud and happy to be nominated!” says Sonja Djønne, CEO of Heymat.

“We developed Heymat+ to show that it’s possible to make a sustainable product without compromising functionality and aesthetics. The NYCxDesign Awards is a fantastic opportunity to promote our product and our ambition to contribute to a more environmentally friendly design industry to a global audience.”

Heymat+’s coarse pile is made from 100% recycled plastic. The quality is equivalent of an industrial mat, with particularly high absorption capacity. The creative mind behind the collection is Kristine Five Melvær. Inspired by nature, the award-winning designer has created the mats’ organic, three-dimensional patterns in delicate, versatile hues.

We are competing with rug manufacturers Gan, Kasthall, Nanimarquina and Rug & Kilim in the fourth edition of NYCxDesign Awards. The competition is presented by Interior Design magazine and ICFF, and honours the best of international design – from interior and architecture to crafts and technology.
